TAIOHI 2023

Ngāti Kahu ki Whaingaroa, Ngāti Kura

Ko Taratara te maunga,
Ko Opopoti te awa,
Ko Taitokerau te marae,
Ko Pouakawhakahua te wahi tapu,
Ko Parata te tangata.
Ko Ngāti Kahu ki whangaroa te iwi.

It's a privilege to be of Ngāpuhi-nui-tonu. I only hope to honour my connection, as with every privilege comes responsibility. My passion is playing the guitar. I use music as rongoa to connect whānau through rhythm and sound.

Music creates a space of healing; it's a whole body experience at specific frequencies and vibrations. Te Ao Māori has many unique frequencies and the mātauranga tuku iho to match. To be in position of creating such a vibration for people to want to hear and feel is the most rewarding experience for me.
