TIDE 3

Displayed is an alternative excerpt from ‘TIDE 3’; a film reflecting whakapapa connected to the actions and intentionality of Noa Records - a Moana Nui a Kiwa rooted record label founded by Rāhara Tito-Taylor. 

The primary layers of whakapapa spoken to in this film are found in groups of three; Māori cosmogony via movement from Te Kore, to Te Pō, to Te Ao Mārama, presence of relationship between the three people behind/within the film (Rāhara Tito-Taylor performing music, Sina Leo painting, and Navākatoa Tekela-Pule capturing video), and a sequence of sonic movements shown through the film; developing from improvisation of modern drums, to Puoro fusion of Alto Saxophone and Pūkāea, and ending in re-memberance with our origins in Taiao via Taonga Puoro (Pūtātara and Pūtōrino), revealing to ourselves what was already there and waiting to be revealed again through alignment with our inner-Taiao.
