TITLE SERIES: THIS HAPŪ IS NOT FOR SALE

This hue is a personification of Hine Pū Te Hue during the war between the tamariki of Ranginui and Papatūānuku. Tāwhirimātea was furious and sent down a storm to show his anger at the distance that had been created between his parents. Chaos ensued as atua fought each other over the mamae of their separation. Amongst the chaos, Hine Pū Te Hue, daughter of Tāne Mahuta and Hinerauāmoa, breathed the chaos and pain deep down into her pito. She let out a sweet melody that calmed the world. To depict the chaos after the beginning of the universe, a takarangi pattern has been carved on the puku of the hue. They barely intersect or touch to show that separation has occurred.
