Whare Pora pays homage to Hine-te-iwaiwa, the goddess of Te Whare Pora. Tāniko - brought to Te Ao Mārama by Niwareka when she left her home with Mataora - is woven here with colour to tell her story. Niwareka, he Tūrehu, shining and gleaming with light.
This digital form of Tāniko seeks to understand Te Whare Pora in a contemporary context, acknowledging the responsibility of Niwareka and how she makes herself present through whakapapa.
