Ella Henry hails from Kaitaia, but her whānau moved to Auckland sixty years ago. She is the Director of Māori Advancement in the Business School at AUT and is an Associate Professor in Entrepreneurship. Prior to the role, Ella was a Senior Lecturer in Te Ara Poutama, where she coordinated the Māori Media major of the Bachelor of Arts. Ella has a BA (Māori Studies/Sociology), MPhil (Management), and PhD in Māori Entrepreneurship. Ella has been a commentator on Māori issues, and a supporter of the Māori screen industry for many years. She has three daughters.
