About this piece
This Hei Poho was commissioned for a private collection and is made from bone gifted to the collector. The decoration along the outer edge of the pendant is a variation of an ancient decoration pattern known as “waewae tūpuna” and stylistically symbolises the cultural significance of genealogies or literally the lines of successive generations.
