Ko Rūaumoko
Ko Manuongaonga
Ko Uetonga
Ko Niwareka

This set represents the origins of moko which came from the realm of Rarohenga; the embodiment of 'Rūaumoko'.

On the left is Manuongaonga holding a tewhatewha that symbolizes direction and rangatiratanga. On the right is his son Uetonga who holds a taiaha symbolizing agility, distraction, and combat. In the middle is Niwareka, the daughter of Uetonga and the great grandchild of Rūaumoko.

This tryptych depicts her return home to the protection of her mātua tupuna in her retreat from the dysfunction with Mataora.
